Base Project Settings

The Settings section is the foundation of a project. It defines the shared parameters used later by the script, voiceover, images, Builder, YouTube, WordPress, Scout, and the AI assistant.

In simple words: Base settings define what kind of channel this is, how FOXI should work with it, and which external connections this project needs.

What to understand before setup

One project usually means one channel or one niche. Base settings should not be changed before every video. You configure them once and adjust them only when the channel direction changes.

Examples when settings should be changed:

• you change the channel language;
• you switch from long videos to Shorts;
• you change the visual style;
• you connect YouTube publishing;
• you add a persistent character;
• you want to run another channel in the same account.

Examples when settings should not be touched immediately:

• one image in one video looks bad;
• only the thumbnail needs regeneration;
• FX balance temporarily ran out;
• one script came out weaker than usual.

In those cases, use the specific module or ask the AI assistant.

Main structure of the tab

The Settings tab can contain several logical blocks:

1. AI settings — system AI connections and keys if the project needs them.
2. YouTube / Google — data for YouTube analysis and publishing.
3. Character — persistent hero or avatar rules.
4. Visual base — files, style, overlays, fonts, background elements.
5. Key checks — quick connection tests.
6. Project save — writing changes to the project configuration.

Does the user need AI API keys?

In most normal scenarios, the user does not need to create separate keys for every AI model. FOXI uses internal connections and charges the shared FX balance.

This means:

• no need to top up many AI services separately;
• no need to store dozens of keys;
• no need to understand which model is paid where;
• costs are visible through the FX balance;
• the AI assistant can suggest which model and mode fit the project.

If you see technical key fields in the interface, do not fill them randomly. First check whether your scenario actually needs them. If unsure, ask the AI assistant: “Do I need to fill these keys for my project?”

YouTube API and YouTube OAuth are different

Beginners often confuse two connections:

Connection	What it is for	When to fill it
YouTube API key	Topic search, Scout, public YouTube data analysis	If you want to find topics and analyze competitors
YouTube OAuth	Uploading videos to your YouTube channel	When you are ready to enable auto-publishing

YouTube API key does not give access to your channel. It is used to read public data.

YouTube OAuth is needed for publishing videos. It is better to connect it only after you have already generated several good test videos and trust the quality.

Project character

A character is needed if you want videos to include a persistent hero, host, avatar, or recognizable visual persona.

There are three typical scenarios:

1. No persistent hero

Good for:

• historical facts;
• documentary style;
• list videos;
• educational content;
• space content;
• crime stories;
• channels where scenes and events matter more than a host.

2. Generate a hero

Good if you want recognition but do not have a ready character. FOXI will use the character description and add the hero to frames where it makes sense.

3. Upload a reference

Good if you already have an avatar, mascot, host, or brand character. In this case, upload the reference file and carefully configure appearance rules.

How often to show the hero

If the character is enabled, it is important to choose how often it appears.

For most informational channels, start with only where needed by the story.

Project files and assets

Base settings may use project files:

• avatar or character;
• avatar background;
• top overlay;
• bottom overlay;
• music;
• font;
• brand elements;
• additional images.

Files are uploaded to the project cloud storage. After upload, you do not need to keep them open on your device. But if a file is important, keep your own copy, because project storage is not a personal archive replacement.

Checking keys and connections

If the project uses keys or external connections, use the check buttons. They help verify whether FOXI can access the required service.

The check can show:

• key works;
• key is empty;
• key is invalid;
• quota is exhausted;
• service is temporarily unavailable;
• connection exists, but additional authorization is required.

If the check shows an error, do not paste keys into external chats. Open the AI assistant inside FOXI and ask it to explain the error.

How to save settings correctly

After changing important fields, click Save. Some fields may autosave, but before starting a full cycle it is better to explicitly save the project.

Correct order:

1. Change settings.
2. Click Save.
3. Check that there is no error message.
4. Start a small test.
5. Only after a successful test, launch a series.

What to ask the AI assistant

The AI assistant is especially useful on this page because beginners may not know which fields matter and which can be ignored.

Example requests:

• “Check my base project settings before launch.”
• “Do I need a persistent character for a space channel?”
• “What should I choose for an English health channel?”
• “Which fields in Settings should I not touch?”
• “Why does the YouTube check show an error?”
• “Help me configure 3 channels with different niches.”

Common mistakes

Minimum setup for the first project

If you want to start quickly, do not fill everything at once. The minimum is:

1. create a project;
2. describe the channel in Quick Setup;
3. choose language and country;
4. choose voice;
5. choose visual style;
6. add one topic;
7. save the project;
8. start a test full cycle.

Other settings can be adjusted after the first result.
