Step 5. CapCut and the Move to Builder

In the old production workflow, a separate CapCut step was used to prepare a manual editing project: a template was opened in CapCut, audio, images, and video clips were replaced inside it, and the user finished the video manually.

In the current FOXI Studio web version, the main workflow is different: the final assembly is done by the cloud Builder. This CapCut page is kept as an explanation of a transitional or optional scenario, not as a required step for beginners.

CapCut as an optional scenario, Builder as the main path

Main rule for beginners

If you are just starting with FOXI Studio, use Step 5 · Builder instead of CapCut.

Builder works from the browser and assembles the final video in the cloud: voice, images, video clips, subtitles, music, transitions, avatar, top and bottom overlays, Smart Focus, and AI-detect protection. You do not need to install a video editor, keep a powerful computer running, or move files manually.

Why CapCut is no longer the main path

CapCut is useful for manual editing, but it does not fit fully cloud-based production well:

  • CapCut must be installed on a computer;
  • the user needs to understand templates and internal project files;
  • templates may break after CapCut updates;
  • final export is still manual;
  • it is harder to run multiple channels and projects in parallel;
  • it is harder to understand where an error is: FOXI, the template, CapCut, or a local file.

FOXI Studio solves this through Builder: the whole chain stays inside one web interface, and the results are saved in project files.

When CapCut can still be useful

The CapCut scenario only makes sense in special cases:

SituationWhy CapCut may be useful
You already have a strong CapCut templateFor example, complex branded editing that has not yet been moved into Builder.
Manual creative editing is requiredAn editor wants to manually place accents, effects, masks, or specific transitions.
The channel uses a non-standard visual formatFor example, a template with many manual layers that are hard to automate.
You need one premium video edited manuallyFor a one-time special episode, manual finishing can be justified.

If your goal is regular production, niche testing, multiple channels, or work without a powerful PC, choose Builder.

What the old CapCut process looked like

This section helps explain the difference between the old and new logic. In the CapCut approach, the user prepared a template in advance, and FOXI tried to replace materials inside it:

  1. A template project was created in CapCut.
  2. The template contained audio placeholders, image placeholders, and video placeholders.
  3. FOXI searched the internal project file and replaced paths to media files.
  4. The user opened CapCut and checked the draft.
  5. The final export was still done manually on the computer.

Old CapCut template logic

In the web version, most users do not need this scenario because Builder assembles the video without opening a manual editor.

What to use instead of CapCut

Use Builder if you need:

  • automatic final video assembly;
  • subtitles and subtitle styles;
  • smooth transitions between frames;
  • zoom/pan movement on images;
  • Smart Focus;
  • background music;
  • overlays and branding;
  • video avatar;
  • video Anti-Detect;
  • cloud rendering and result storage in project files.

How to choose between Builder and manual editing

Choose Builder if

  • you want to start production from the browser;
  • you do not have a powerful computer for editing;
  • you need to produce videos regularly;
  • multiple projects should be able to run in parallel;
  • you want costs to be tracked through FX and operation history;
  • you need a repeatable automatic pipeline.

Choose manual editing if

  • you have an editor;
  • the video requires artistic manual assembly;
  • you need complex effects that Builder does not provide yet;
  • you are making one unique episode rather than mass content.

What to do if you came from the old instruction

If you still have old CapCut templates or are used to editing videos manually, use this safe transition:

  1. Create the video materials in FOXI up to Step 4: text, voice, images, and clips.
  2. Run Builder with basic settings.
  3. Download the final video from project files.
  4. If needed, open the downloaded file in CapCut and make manual edits on top of the ready video.

This way you do not depend on fragile replacement of internal CapCut files, but you can still use CapCut as a final creative editor.

Common questions

Do I need to install CapCut to use FOXI Studio?

No. For the standard cloud pipeline, CapCut is not required. A browser, project, FX balance, and configured Builder are enough.

Why is the CapCut page still in the documentation?

Because some users may remember the old workflow or have their own templates. This page explains that this path is now optional, while the main scenario is Builder.

Can CapCut be completely skipped?

Yes. In normal work, simply do not use this scenario and continue to Builder. In the current web Pipeline, the main final assembly button is 05 · Render / Builder.

If Builder already edits the video, why use a manual editor?

A manual editor is needed only for creative post-production when you want unique effects or a premium episode. For regular production, Builder is faster and more stable.

Next step

Continue to Step 5 · Builder. This is where final rendering is configured: resolution, FPS, subtitles, music, avatar, overlays, Smart Focus, and the final file for publishing.
